Podgradina. You were my home, my playground, where my family and best friends lived. You were everything. Now I just have my dad left and its who we stay with when visiting. The older population has passed, houses have become empty and no one has replaced them. Almost every house was someone you were close with, that you could stop in and ask for water when thirsty or shelter when you got too hot or cold from playing outside. The whole neighborhood was somewhere you were welcome. The simplicity is something I couldn’t imagine for my children now. They need water bottles, sunscreen, hats, snacks, scheduled playdates. All of it. I miss it for them, and for me.
The next images are taken behind my house in Podgradina and in front of my grandmothers old home. My heart in my home. Enjoy!
